She was born into the slave trade, but dared to seek freedom, and took refuge among the Courtesans of Florence, Italy under the grace of Paola. During this time she was taught how to, of course, blend in and pick-pocket at a young age.

Eventually Paola passed Yusra onto the Assassins for proper training at the age of ten, rather than have her work as a Prostitute for her brothel.

Yusra would later go onto meet Ezio Auditore when she was sixteen for a brief period, and could only truly remember him by his anything-but-subtle flirtation and womanzing. Within this brief period, she developed a minor crush on the Assassin, and insisted on being one of his Pupils.

For two years she has followed him, helping mostly with scouting, and very rarely would he ask for her help to preform assassinations. Over the two years her crush has evolved more into admiration, and respect.

Whenever she comes across other Assassins, Yusra might be teased, or scolded ; depending on who it is ; for her uniform of choice. She refuses to cover up and Ezio, despite being a Master Assassin, doesn't enforce the dress-code for her.
